Tour part two: all the awesome things I ate

Jess is basically awesome

I love junk food. I admit it—cake, candy, sugar, forget it. I will try anything if it's fried.  When I met with my old friend Jess in Nashville, she gave me a tour and led me around to the usual places: Music Rowe, the Parthenon, Earnest Tubbs Record Shop and, oh yea, Gigi's Cupcakes.  After a healthy breakfast of hummus and veggies, I feasted my eyes on the most heavily iced and most heavenly tasting cupcakes.  Better than Magnolia and Crumbs.  I didn't think it was possible. Kris got the red velvet and I got coconut flavor, which had a little less icing. I don't think I could have handled that one on my own.

Earlier that week, we stopped off at Penguin Drive-In in Charlotte, NC.  It's a little secret our friends in Asheville let us in on. They were featured on one of my favorite shows "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" (p.s. I am still angry that I don't get food network anymore).  I'll forgive them for burning my veggie burger; I did get a veggie burger at a burger joint, and after eating so many fried pickles and hush puppies, I didn't even want my sandwich anyway.  Am I the only one that didn't know fried pickles, hush puppies, or friend chicken biscuits existed? If I lived in the south, I swear I'd weigh a whole lot more.

One other great first time for me was real Philadelphia Cheese Steak.  I don't normally eat steak, and I'll be honest, I only had a couple of bites and ordered cheese fries for myself instead, but gosh—it was so good, even if we had to stand outside in negative degrees weather to eat it! Kris was pretty much in heaven, though.

Basically, from now until I die I am going diet.  I am slowly getting into the swing of things after being away, writing new songs, setting up shows, and finally starting things up with the Indy again!
